FC Barcelona has officially extended
Lamine Yamal's contract until 2031, a move that many fans eagerly anticipated.
The deal was finalized following several intense discussions in recent days,
with assistance from his agent, Jorge Mendes. The official signing took place
in President Joan Laporta’s office, attended by Rafa Yuste and Deco. This
agreement was reached after extensive talks between the club and Yamal’s
representatives. His agent, Jorge Mendes—a well-known and influential
football agent—played a crucial role in finalizing the deal. The official
signing occurred at the club’s headquarters, in President Joan Laporta’s
office, with key figures including Rafa Yuste (director) and Deco (legend and
advisor) also present.
Yamal, currently 17, previously had a
contract until 2026. However, since October 2023, there has been an informal
agreement to extend it until 2030. His new contract will commence when he turns
18 on July 13, 2024, and will last until 2031. It includes a substantial €1
billion release clause, a higher salary that reflects his importance to the
team, and additional payments based on achievements. Yamal joined Barça at just
7 years old and has always wanted to remain with the club. This extension
ensures he stays with Barça for years to come, keeping him away from other
major clubs that may have tried to sign him this summer. Now, he can
concentrate on playing for Spain in the Nations League before taking a break
and returning for preseason training.

- Milestone
bonuses, meaning he can earn extra money based on achievements like
appearances, goals, assists, or winning major trophies.
